Weeks 1 & 2

For the past week, I've been working at my internship at Sunset Heights Elementary and gaining insight on the public school education system and how it affects the very early stages of education. I observe a first grade writing resource class and a sixth grade math resource class for two hours every school day. My on-site adviser, Mrs. Bell, has been showing me how to do lesson plans according to the school, state, and student standards. In general, the younger students are very eager to learn and fast to overcome interpersonal issues. I have yet to observe a lecture in the sixth grade class, but so far they seem slightly more socially-oriented than the younger students. Overall, both sets of students are excited and talkative, but display significant struggles in their respective resource classes.
